trance, always dressed in lavender with a great
deal of black lace, her important watch chain
lying on her bosom. She wore her hair on
the top of her head, built up in a black tower,
with red coral combs. When she smiled, she
showed two rows of strong, crooked yellow
teeth. She taught the little children herself,
and her husband, the harpist, taught the older
ones.

Often the mothers brought their fancy-work
and sat on the shady side of the tent during
the lesson. The popcorn man wheeled his glass
wagon under the big cottonwood by the door,
and lounged in the sun, sure of a good trade
when the dancing was over. Mr. Jensen, the
Danish laundryman, used to bring a chair
from his porch and sit out in the grass plot.
Some ragged little boys from the depot sold
pop and iced lemonade under a white um-
brella at the corner, and made faces at the
spruce youngsters who came to dance. That
vacant lot soon became the most cheerful
place in town. Even on the hottest afternoons
the cottonwoods made a rustling shade, and
the air smelled of popcorn and melted butter,
and Bouncing Bets wilting in the sun. Those
hardy flowers had run away from the laundry-

comment: Jason I agree completely! It's so hard to chosoe between our favorite restaurants, and that's why Narcoossee's doesn't get a visit as often as we might like. We can't wait to go back to Citricos this Fall!Grateful D Yes, I've heard something about it being a song as well (hopefully the sarcasm comes through in that comment and I don't just sound ignorant!)Chuck Yep, I meant parties of four, but you can see in the photos above that there are a few window tables that have been set up for six or more. This would be a great spot for your party. Aydin Being a big fan of Vacationland (i.e. Maine), I hear your comment loud and clear. I shudder to think what my mother would do if she ordered a whole lobster and didn't get the tamale!! Very good point, and we appreciate the comment.Robin My husband and I discussed this and decided we'd chosoe Citricos. It's very quiet, very private, and pretty luxurious. If you can't do V A's, do Citricos.GG Ha! I thought that happened to you at Citricos! What a lovely experience! Mick Agreed. And Narcoossee's doesn't have the stress factor of seeing the fireworks that you get at Ohana and California Grill. Those two spots are well known for their fireworks views, so you get stressed out vacationers elbowing their way to the front of the line to request fireworks view tables. Here not so much. Very laid back. I love that about Narcoossee's.Alan Thanks for seconding the tip about the Lobster. That's hugely beneficial to know! And, yes, I think the cookies are new or perhaps were just seasonal. We thought it was a treat!Jenn Yep! We love the steak here. It's one of our favorites! They do most things well at Narcoossee's, though!Emma G To my knowledge the dining plan doesn't affect the choices at this restaurant (can't get apps, though). And the stuffy factor really doesn't come out too much. In fact, I usually find that signature restaurants because of the kid factor have a hard time being stuffy in Disney World. Every once in a while you'll find a stuffy server, but the atmosphere doesn't really feel that way most of the time. Would love to hear others' thoughts!

comment: Fabulous list.My husband and I ate at all 3 of these on our Honeymoon in 2007. V&A was siplmy amazing, even without being at the chef's table. I had the wine pairing which was a real highlight, being a wine lover (my husband was driving so he had one tiny sip of each of mine just to try them; he made up for it by ordering the Kobe steak which I think was almost as much as the wine!)We sat in the nearby bar while we waited for our table (can't remember the name of it unfortunately) and the guy next to us insisted upon buying us both a celebratory drink! How lovely. The menus with our names and the little gifts at the end were also a big hit! An awesome night I will remember forever (despite the wine consumed!!)Jiko was very atmospheric and had some lovely food (V&A was more to my taste for a really posh night out, but that was reflected in the price & Jiko's was still absolutely superb) and the waiters were so lovely and funny; we got a card signed by all the staff probably a very generic thing to do, but I still found it very touching.California grill I found slightly less romantic until the fireworks started, as it seemed fairly bright to me and quite full, but nevertheless an amazing experience that I will never forget. We had probably the best table there, but it was far too big for just the 2 of us. When the fireworks started a very young girl asked shyly if she could sit with us as her table was much further away and we were fine with that to be honest, once the music started and the lights dimmed I wasn't paying attention to much else anyway! Her father came over later to say thank you even though the girl had already thanked us profusely. After the fireworks were done, the lighting seemed a bit dimmer, and the restaurant got a bit less busy, so the rest of our meal felt a lot more intimate. The staff members were astoundingly friendly and helpful; to the point that we asked to have our photo taken with them at the end of the evening because they were just that lovely! The Sushi was to die for, and the wine recommendations were spot on.We missed the sunset unfortunately as we had a fairly late reservation, but we did take photos of us while waiting for transport to get there, as the sunset was so amazing I can only imagine how wonderful it was that many stories up!I'm trying 5 of the honourable mentions when we come for our 5th Anniversary this September! Yay.Sorry for the long and waffling comment!!

comment: awesome post! Im always insteeterd in finding other places, since I rarely get the opportunity to eat at table services when I go with other places. I would like to say, though Jennifer W says she rarely sees people at Flying Fish, and i'm wondering if it's because you always have to travel to there by a bus (or boat? not sure if boardwalk does ferry). At least for me and my family, It's kind of an inconvenience for any restaurant if you can't get there by monorail or it's not in a park, with the exception of Downtown Disney, since we only stay at the resorts with a monorail attached for convenience of my disabled sister. If i ever do a solo trip, though, i'll have to look into it! I'd like to add, one of the BEST places for me personally was Earl of Sandwich. I can still remember their amazing pasta salad and the sandwiches are just endless it was one of the best meal purchases I made outside of the phenomenal Tonga Toast at the Polynesian. My friend and I also went to Wolfgang Puck Express, and that meal was pretty good too! I never really paid much attention to the Downtown Disney area for food, but i cannot believe that at 24 years old, on all of my previous trips that I neglected Earl of Sandwich. My new motto is a trip is not complete until I get that ( . and then a dole whip .. and then a gigantic cookie ice cream sandwich at main street bakery .. and then a rice krispie mickey ears treat .. okay trips are never complete for me!! LOL)

comment: Another great article, A.J. I have 2 bits of avdice to consider for any trip to Disney:1. Plan early and often. When time permits, have an overall plan for the trip and make sure you know WHEN you need to take action to book WHAT.2. It never hurts to call Disney a week or more earlier than you think you can. Sometimes they change booking windows, and don't openly advertise it. Most of these changes I learn about from great blogs, like this one. For example, last week, I called Disney just to ask a question. We wanted to book the Illuminations Cruise for our December trip and I couldn't remember how early to report to the dock for pickup [Yacht Club Dock near Lighthouse 1 hour before Illuminations]. The booking window should have opened in mid-September, since that's been a 90-day advance rezzie for the past few years. Apparently, they've changed this, so NOW you can book this cruise, and presumably most of the other Specialty Cruises on the same advanced window as dining. Moral of the story; never assume things still are as they were for last year's trip.Oh, and a quick suggestion for another tasty restaurant is Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge. This a 2-pointer on the Dining Plan, but worth it. Especially if you couldn't get Cali Grill or Le Cellier. http://govqimmmr.com [url=http://dcchzrhw.com]dcchzrhw[/url] [link=http://balmqux.com]balmqux[/link]
