"It's wolves, Jimmy," Antonia whispered.
"It's awful, what he says!"

The sick man raged and shook his fist. He
seemed to be cursing people who had wronged
him. Mr. Shimerda caught him by the shoul-
ders, but could hardly hold him in bed. At last
he was shut off by a coughing fit which fairly
choked him. He pulled a cloth from under his
pillow and held it to his mouth. Quickly it
was covered with bright red spots -- I thought
I had never seen any blood so bright. When
he lay down and turned his face to the wall,
all the rage had gone out of him. He lay pa-
tiently fighting for breath, like a child with
croup. Antonia's father uncovered one of his
long bony legs and rubbed it rhythmically.
From our bench we could see what a hollow
case his body was. His spine and shoulder-
blades stood out like the bones under the hide
of a dead steer left in the fields. That sharp
backbone must have hurt him when he lay
on it.

Gradually, relief came to all of us. What-
ever it was, the worst was over. Mr. Shimerda
signed to us that Pavel was asleep. Without
a word Peter got up and lit his lantern. He
was going out to get his team to drive us

comment: Hi Antonia, love the blog! I am a journalism sndteut and at the moment I am writing my dissertation, which focuses on the EU and the British press. As you probably know, people don't know a lot about the EU in this country, and the Euro skeptic press only fans false preconceptions and Euromyths. I was just wondering what your take is on how to educate people, and why the media are so biased and suspicious of the EU?Thanks and keep up the good work, Sam.

comment: Thank you for the inclusion of my phgpoorath. I agree that the ones you choose each week set a high benchmark and help me to 'see' more clearly what will work in B&W.Once again, Dragonstar, thank you for hosting and for sifting through. A lot of work is involved and I for one, appreciate the time and the effort.

comment: The modish Zune brswoer is surprisingly sound, but not as documentation as the iPod’s. It works grammatically, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you irregularly sketch on using the web brswoer that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to flick through the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better brswoer may be important. http://bbgifcylj.com nicrltohp [link=http://blugvtbai.com]blugvtbai[/link]

comment: Wow, I was making ten bucks an hour about one hunrded years ago, when you could buy a house for less than a hunrded grand and a vehicle for less than ten grand, much less. Since jobs with Air Canada would tend to be near major airports like Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary, are these practically minimum wage earners supposed to sleep under the planes on the tarmac. How one can live on 32 hours a week at just over ten bucks an hour, unless they live with their parents is hard to fathom. http://xmxzzmg.com mnoevzl [link=http://emgdxu.com]emgdxu[/link]
